Heget's Blatherings

I'm calling this the Re-Download Project, where I upload my creations that I posted to the Keep for those of you that find it easier to sort through a journal than a forum. I might sneak in a few extras, but all-and-all nothing you haven't seen before. So the first offering should be the first thing I uploaded to the forum.




The lack of something period appropriate (or at least something that didn't stick out like a sore thumb) for the computers irritated me almost as much as my Sims' wants for one. And laptop meshes recolored to look like books never really looked like books.
So I grabbed other people's book clutter and made some computers.

There are three meshes with excellent variety to work for most house-holds high enough in rank or gold to afford books. Want the features w/out the books? That's another set.

These are cloned computers, and the main version has all the features from Apartment Life down.  I do have a less-EP version as well. The 'mouse' moves, the lower book moves as a keyboard, and it has all the functions without the light or anachronistic look of a computer or crystal ball.

Putting on my Nerd Hat: Since the neighborhood I made these for is based on The Lord of the Rings, the art fits that theme and fonts are either runes, a type of elvish font, or Simlish. My pet peeve is any text in English and using the various tengwar gives a nice cursive look without being legible.  Simlish, if you were wondering, is pretend Adunaic or Westron. The book textures are a combination of the originals, my own, and Almighty Hat's books (I like to have a sense of continuity because I use those suckers on all my book clutter). Also hacked apart and recombined were the parchment and other textures found from the Keep, art from deviantart (and at least one painting from Tolkien himself), and ZeroDark's Art Nouveau Book Clutter from GOS Monthy Theme.
Feel free to make your own recolors (In fact I encourage it because it saves me from making 500 more). I'll probably add more recolors to this post once I finish my elvish college, especially all the classrooms and library, and if there is any requests I'll try to fill, be it recolors or new meshes. Here's a swatch of some of the recolors for the first Sorcerer's Study Book.



The meshes are originally from cynnix, chimerical, clutter-a-holic, mira, aikea, and others. Hopefully this didn't break any TOUs.


The second Sorceror's Study computer is "On a Stand", and far fancier.






Aside from the ones shown above, below are five more recolors: one manuscript recolor, one cookbook in simlish, another art nouveau cover with tengwar, and another red art nouveau pattern in simlish and tengwar. Have I mentioned how much I liked ZeroDark's recolors?






Lastly, here are five more recolors of the first "Sorcerer's Study". Some are based either directing on or from suggested from the Keep: A mermaid for Meshy, another version of the green cover with medieval farming, music to fit with the DJ Booth, one specifically for my Tolkien neighborhood with a certain elvish princess, and one in Dwarf runes for that architecture class taught by our own Herr Burgermeister with the proper floor plans.



So what if a pile of books that works with all the features of a computer isn't magical enough for you?

A while back cheshirekat made a request for a medieval-looking version of rebekah's updated Christianlov's the Easy Computer that would still work for her game that only has EPs up to BV and no Pets. It should work for most EP configurations. So I can finally say that it is finished and has six working recolors and can be placed in community lots. (and only the tiniest bit of red)



Files have been Compressorized, Polycount is 1013.
There is only one recolorable subset, because I finally told myself if I'm not bothering to make different textures for an actual screen, the Sim does not need a "screen".
